Mary Rettmann, 62, of Gibbon died Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop with Pastor Robert Miner officiating. Burial will be in the Winthrop City Cemetery in Winthrop. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Friday. Mary is survived by her husband, David Rettmann of Gibbon; daughters, Sarah Rasmussen and her special friend, Steve Tauer of New Ulm, Vickie Rasmussen of St. Paul, Kathy Rasmussen of Maple Grove, Mary Rasmussen and her special friend, Jon, of Everette, Washington; sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Beth Rasmussen of Gibbon, Odin "O.J." Dahl of Brainerd, David Lyons of Minneapolis; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Sharon Durant of White Earth; brother-in-law, Melvin Rettmann of Gibbon. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rita Rasmussen in infancy; 1 sister, and 3 brothers.
Mary Alice Durant was born on January 6, 1949 in White Earth Township, Becker County to Lawrence and Victoria (Jackson) Durant. On May 25, 1996 she was united in marriage to David Rettmann at the Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Mary was a homemaker her entire life, was a loveable person and one who enjoyed being with and talking with people. She loved to watch her husband, David, bowl and play softball. Mary enjoyed listening to church music and work on puzzel books. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop. mvfh.org.
