Maxine Herzog, age 94, of New Ulm passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Garden Terrace in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity of New Ulm. Father Gerald Meidl will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldier’s Rest section, in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes – North Chapel in New Ulm. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.
The Christian Mother’s Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Maxine is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Jim) Dell, Shelly (Bryce) Boelter; sons, Patrick (Bernadette) Herzog, Michael (Linda) Herzog; eight grandchildren, Alex Herzog, Adam (Lexi) Herzog, Ashley (Nate) Watkins, Emily (Brian) Holtberg, Hailey Boelter, Braxton Boelter, Amanda Herzog, Mikaela Herzog; four great-grandchildren, Owen and Ainsley Herzog, Olivia Watkins, James Holtberg; sister-in-law, Vicki Anderson; and many extended family and friends
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerald “Jerry” Herzog; sister, Jean Bauer; brother, Tom Simonett; in-laws, Thomas (Shirley) Herzog, Richard (Lorraine) Herzog, Kay Herzog; and many extended family.
Maxine L. Simonett was born March 18, 1932 to Clement and Bertha (Brunner) Simonett in St. Peter. She graduated from Good Counsel High School and went on to Mankato State University. After graduation, Maxine worked as an x-ray technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato. On May 4, 1957, Maxine was united in marriage to Jerald “Jerry” Herzog at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Mankato. Their union was blessed with four children. Outside of being a wife and mother, she spent fifteen years working at Randall’s in New Ulm before retiring. Outside of work, she loved to go on walks, play cards, travel, and babysit her grandkids. She was a member of Mrs. Jaycees, the Legion Auxiliary, the Chrisitan Mother’s Society, and the Catholic Daughters. Maxine will be dearly missed by those that knew her. Blessed be her memory.
