Mildred "Millie" Frances Mettler was born October 16, 1932, in Mankato to Charles and Elizabeth (Miller) Mettler. She attended Holy Rosary grade school and while in Mankato worked at the Dime Store. On January 30, 1951, Millie was united to the love of her life, Harvey Hugo Dorn at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. This union blessed the couple with six children whom together they raised on their farm where Millie worked as a loving farm wife, mother, and homemaker. Millie loved to stay busy. When she wasn't at home with her family, she dedicated a lot of volunteer hours to St. Paul's Catholic Church where she volunteered with funeral lunches, decorated the sanctuary for the seasons, as well as blood drives, and any role that needed a volunteer. She was also active with the Red Hat Society and Meals on Wheels. To relax, Millie loved tending to her flowers, or sharing a laugh over a hand of cards. What she loved most in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Millie was an individual who would always put the needs of others before her own. Her loving, caring, and gentle heart will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of having Millie in their lives. Blessed be her memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Ecumen Pathstone of Mankato, Mayo Hospice, St. Paul's Catholic Church of Nicollet, or the donor's choice.
