Obituary

Norbert Ranweiler, 86, of Gibbon, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the New Ulm Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the St. George Catholic Church in St. George with Father Tony Hesse celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. on Monday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. A parish prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a rosary to follow by the Catholic Order of Foresters at 7:30.


Norbert is survived by his children, Steven (Kim) Ranweiler of New Ulm, Eugene Ranweiler of Gibbon, Diane Dauer of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Eunice Ranweiler of St. Cloud; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann Ranweiler on May 3, 2011; brothers, Alfred Ranweiler, Elmer Ranweiler; sisters, Erna Gleisner, Leona Stadick; son-in-law, Craig Dauer; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth (Hasse) Schupe

Norbert Anton Ranweiler was born at home in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, on April 20, 1928 to Anton and Anna (Kraus) Ranweiler. He attended country school in West Newton Township. On June 24, 1952 he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Evers at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. After their marriage, Norbert and Mary Ann lived and farmed in West Newton Township. Together, they celebrated 58 years of marriage before Mary Ann passed away in 2011. For 25 years, Norbert was self-employed at Ranweiler Trucking. He retired from trucking in 2000 but continued to farm until his death. Norbert loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family.
He was a member of St. George Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
