Randal “Randy” Alan Ahlbrecht, age 71 of rural Gibbon died on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.

A private family service will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon.

A public visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. Burial will take place in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.

Randy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Kathy Ahlbrecht of rural Gibbon; his daughters, Nickie (Andy) Rettmann of Winthrop, Casey (Adam) Prochniak of Gibbon; his sons, Tory (Emily) Ahlbrecht of Gibbon, Craig (Steph) Ahlbrecht of Waterville; his grandchildren, Cole, Ella, Owen, Natalie, Ben, Grace, Alex, and Delaney; his sisters, Wendy (Dave) Rubischko of St. Peter, Cindy (Tony) Wolf of New Ulm; his brothers, Bob (Debbie) Ahlbrecht of Casper, Wyoming, Charlie Jr. (Barb) Ahlbrecht of Gibbon, Lynn (Loretta) Ahlbrecht of Gibbon; his sisters-in-law, Brenda (Rick) Messner of Mankato, Jeanne (Steve) Cole of Winthrop, Debbie (significant other, Chris) Bergren of Cocoa Beach, Florida; his dog, Lexi; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, Gary.

Randal “Randy” Alan Ahlbrecht was born October 30, 1954, in Gaylord to Charles and Marilyn (Buboltz) Ahlbrecht. Growing up on the family farm in rural Gibbon, Randy was a 1972 graduate of Gibbon High School. He was united in marriage to Kathy Briese on December 1, 1973, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. This union was blessed with two daughters and two sons, whom they raised together on their farm.

Randy was a dedicated farmer his entire life. He grew up on the farm and eventually took over the operation, raising crops, dairy cattle, and steers. Farming was more than a livelihood for Randy. It was a way of life that he took great satisfaction in working to provide for his family.

Away from the farm, Randy enjoyed the simple things in life. He found time to relax by fishing with family and friends, sitting down to work on a good puzzle, or watching sports and cheering on his favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings. He was a hardworking man who was generous with his time and willing to help whenever someone needed him. Quiet and humble by nature, Randy never needed to be the center of attention. Randy's life was built around the things that mattered most to him; his family, his farm, his faith, and the people he cared about. He was a man who worked hard, and could always be counted on. The lessons he taught through the way he lived will remain with his children and grandchildren. His life was rooted in hard work, family, and simple joys, and he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to live on in the people he loved and the farm he devoted his life to.
