Richard Arnold Scheid was born March 14, 1938 to Henry J. and Loretta (Reinhart) Scheid in New Ulm. He graduated from Holy Trinity High School New Ulm in 1956. On April 23, 1960 Richard was united in marriage to Gloria Schugel.  Their union was blessed with three children. After marriage, he began a 39-year career with Kraft Foods, 17 years in the New Ulm plant and 22 years as a truck driver for Kraft Transport. After his retirement, he became an avid golfer spending many days on the New Ulm Country Club course with his dear friends. Dick enjoyed playing cards including Skat, Cribbage, and Sheepshead and many other card games, even Double Solitaire. He was a master card player.

For over 50 years, Dick enjoyed the annual week vacation on Lake Winnibigoshish. It is a family tradition looked forward to by his children and grandchildren. Family always came first. He loved following his grandchildren's sports and music performances, seldom missing an event, whether near or far.

Dick loved to travel, having visited 49 states, Europe, the Panama Canal, and a trip to Japan to see his granddaughter and partake in a Navy Tiger cruise.

Richard will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Blessed be his memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools or donor's choice.
