Robert “Bob” Forst, age 87 of St. George, died Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11am on Monday, July 6, 2026 at St. George Catholic church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH chapel and will continue from 10-11am Monday, July 6, 2026 at St. George Catholic church, prior to mass.

Robert is survived by his wife, Alice of New Ulm; his daughters, Mary Jean (Tim) Waibel of Courtland and Ann (Doug) Zimmerman of Hayward, Wisconsin; his sons, Glenn (Jackie) Forst of Gibbon and Lynn (Sue) Forst of Gibbon; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sis (Dick) Kral of New Ulm; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Vernita Kelley; his brothers, Gerald (Shirley) Forst and Stanley Forst; his son-in-law, Walter L. Rewitzer; and his great-grandson, Liam Forst.

Robert Edward Forst was born on January 5, 1939, in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, to Herbert and Agnes (Beranek) Forst. He served in the National Guard Reserves for 10 years. Robert was united in marriage to Alice Schmitz on August 30, 1960, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Together they raised their four children on the family farm near St. George.

Robert was a proud farmer throughout his life. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting. He was a lifelong member of St. George Catholic Church.
