Obituary

Scott A. Chambard, age 68, of Hanska, died Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

A funeral service will be at 2pm on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Nora Unitarian-Universalist Church in Hanska, with Reverend Laurie Bushbaum officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisqua Cemetery with full military honors provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – South Chapel in New Ulm and will continue Saturday from 1-2pm, at Nora Church prior to the service.

Scott is survived by his son, Ross Chambard of Hanska; his mother, Carol Chambard of New Ulm; sisters, Vicki (Peter) Chambard Torkelson of Lanesboro and Peggy Witt of Naperville, IL; niece, Jennifer (Rob Sachs) Witt; nephews, Jonathan Witt and Brian Witt; aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alon Chambard and brother-in-law, Scot Witt.

Scott Alon Chambard was born on January 18, 1956 in New Ulm to Alon and Carol (Bakken) Chambard. He spent his early years in Hanska and graduated from New Ulm Public High School. For the majority of his career, Scott was a long-haul truck driver. As an owner operator Scott traveled all over the country. Scott lived in New Ulm and the St. Cloud area before returning back home to Hanska. Scott enjoyed watching history shows on TV and a good nap. He liked time outdoors, whether it was deer hunting, mowing the lawn, plowing snow in the winter or helping neighbors and friends. Having a friendly dog around was an important part of Scott's life. These beloved dogs included Snickers, Slivers, Max and his current dog Buddy. Scott was a former member of the New Ulm Battery and was very committed in his time with the DAV. Scott was a life-long member of Nora Church in Hanska. He was loved and will be deeply missed.
