Shirley Ann (Lunz) Gulden, age 81, of Minong, WI passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 9, 2022 at Essentia Health—St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
Shirley was born June 18, 1941, in New Ulm, MN to Leland and Rita (Goos) Lunz. Growing up in New Ulm, Shirley worked at her parent's restaurants, and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1959. After graduation, she worked in the offices at Kraft Foods during her time in New Ulm. On September 23 rd , 1977, Shirley was united in marriage to David A. Gulden at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm and they moved to Rochester soon after. She worked as a school cook for many years making sure no one went hungry and later in the accounts office at the Mayo Clinic. In 2005, Shirley and David retired permanently to Minong, WI where she loved the quiet and peacefulness of the lake. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and sewing, reading a good book, watching the birds, especially hummingbirds, and spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. Shirley knew her Lord and Savior and was an active member of the church and had a heart for serving others.
Shirley is survived by her husband of almost 45 years, David; five children: Catherine Grimshaw, Kevin Gulden, Eric (Libby) Gulden, Christopher Gulden, and Robyn (Tim) Ritter; three stepchildren: Paul (Kyong) Gulden, Sarah Gulden, and Jesse (Patti) Gulden; ten grandchildren: Thomas, Clare, Max, Piper, Brooklyn, Bryant, Micah, Elijah, Daniel and Ashley; her sister, Mary Bono; and many nieces and nephews and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Rodney (Butch) Lunz.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 20 th at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 700 S. Broadway St., New Ulm, MN with visitation from 10:00am to the start of the service. Burial will take place following the service at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery and a luncheon will be provided at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home—South Chapel.
