IVANHOE

Thomas "Tom" Michael Schnichels, age 56, of Ivanhoe, Minnesota (formerly New Ulm) died on Monday, September 23, 2024, at his home in Ivanhoe after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.  Father Tanner Thooft will celebrate the Mass, and burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

The Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements at this time.

Tom is survived by his parents, Avis and Matt Schnichels of rural Searles; his sisters, Brenda (David) Drill of Courtland, Cynthia Rogers of Tyler; his brother, Phil Wagner of South Carolina; and his special friend, Vanessa Freels of Ivanhoe.

Thomas "Tom" Michael Schnichels was born October 22, 1967, and adopted at the age of 12 by Matt and Avis (Jensen) Schnichels.  Growing up in New Ulm, Tom attended Cathedral High School and later attained his GED.  Tom worked the majority of his life as a dedicated over the road truck driver.  His career as a truck driver spanned many years and was only slowed when his battles got too hard.  Early in his life, Tom enjoyed basketball, football, and also enjoyed hunting and the simplicity and peace of the outdoors.  Tom will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him, but memories of good times shared will forever stay in their hearts and minds forever.  Blessed be his memory.
