Growing up in southern Minnesota, Tom was a 1980 graduate of St. James High School. Sports were a big part of Tom’s life. While in high school, he was a member of the football team that advanced to the state tournament and the baseball team that won the state championship. Soon after graduation, Tom enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country until receiving his honorable discharge.
Following his time in the service, Tom moved to San Antonio. He began building mobile production studios for Shook Electronics where he discovered his talent for paint and vinyl on a large scale. After producing trailers for Shook Electronics; Tom landed his “dream job” as Golf Course Superintendent at Rebecca Creek.
Tom was united in marriage to Tracy and united, as proud father, to Ryan and David in July of 1993. The family later made their home in Albuquerque, where Tom worked as a pit boss at Route 66 Casino for the past 20 years.
Tom found joy in many hobbies and passions. He had a true talent for landscaping and lawn care. His lawn was an oasis of plush grass in the Albuquerque desert. He enjoyed golfing, playing poker, and archery. Tom was truly a people person who had a special way of making others laugh. Known for his storytelling and good-natured sense of humor, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them smiling. He valued the friendships he made throughout his life and cherished the time he spent with family, especially watching his sons, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews grow up over the years.
Tom will be remembered for his quick wit, generous heart, and ability to make those around him feel welcome. Whether sharing stories, lending a hand, or simply enjoying time with family and friends, he brought laughter and warmth wherever he went. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
