Obituary

Wallace "Wally" Prader, age 90, of New Ulm passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Woodstone Senior Living in New Ulm.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – North Chapel in New Ulm. Chaplain Noel Wetter will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery, where the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard will provide full military honors.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – North Chapel in New Ulm.

Wally is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Norma Prader; daughter, Tanya "Tami" (Dennis "DJ") Borgen; sons, Keith (Jeanette) Prader, Kristofer Prader; two grandchildren, Makayla (Jake) Nelson, Haley Borgen; two great-grandchildren and one more on the way, Myla Borgen and Easton Nelson; sisters, Donna Murphy, Sue Nagel, Barb (Lonnie) Stucky, Carol Carlson (Richard); brothers, Curtis and Fred Prader; sisters-in-law, Mary Prader, Lolly Reiser; brothers-in-law, George and Frank (Harriet) Reiser; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Myrtle Prader; parents-in-law, Bill & Olivia Reiser; son, Kevin Prader; brothers, Jerry, Donald "Chub", Tom Prader; sisters-in-law Marie Reiser, Donna Reiser; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Murphy, Willard Reiser, William Reiser.

Wallace George Prader was born December 23, 1933 to George and Myrtle (Sims) Prader at their home in Big Stone County. He graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1954 to 1958. Wally then drove a gas truck for Standard Oil and began a 30 year career with the United States Postal Service. On May 5, 1995, Wally was united in marriage to Norma Reiser in Minneapolis and the couple later moved to New Ulm.

In his free time, Wally enjoyed tending to his garden, going fishing on the pontoon with his dogs, keeping his yard tidy, and playing 500. He especially enjoyed playing ball with his boys, walking the dogs, greeting and being a member at the UCC in New Ulm, helping Norma host family events and parties, and giving gifts to all his family and friends. Wally will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and easy-going demeanor. He will be dearly missed by those that knew him. Blessed be his memory.
