Wayne Alan Brudelie, age 76 of rural Hanska died unexpectedly at the Madelia Community Hospital on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home- South Chapel in New Ulm. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s social hall.

Visitation will take place from 9-11 am on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Jean Brudelie of rural Hanska; his sister, Edythe Dankert of Ham Lake; sister-in-law, Karen Kettner of Sleepy Eye; his brothers-in-law, Gary (Deb) Gluth of Kentucky, Brian (Margaret) Gluth of Eagan; his niece, Molly (Jared) Lang of Fairfax, Virginia; his nephews, Todd (Lisa) Dankert of Oak Grove, Kevin Kettner of Springfield, Josh Gluth of Ft. Wright, Kentucky; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Daryl Brudelie; and a nephew, Daryl Dankert.

Wayne Alan Brudelie was born June 10, 1950, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Walter and Adeline (Hetle) Brudelie. He was raised in southern Minnesota, attending grade school in Hanska before graduating from Madelia High School in 1968. Following high school, Wayne attended Mankato Vo-Tech, where he studied agri-business, an education that would serve him well throughout his life. Wayne was united in marriage to Jean Gluth on June 19, 1976, at First Methodist Church in New Ulm. Together, they made their home on their farm in rural Hanska, where Wayne worked for 30 years as a dedicated farmer. Alongside farming, Wayne spent 20 years working for Madelia Elementary School, ISD #837, where he served as the boiler operator and custodian. Whether caring for the farm or taking care of the school, Wayne took pride in his work and could always be counted on to get the job done.

Wayne was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting, fishing, canoeing, and horseback riding, and especially enjoyed taking a pontoon ride around the lake. He enjoyed golfing, and in earlier years, playing fast pitch softball. Wayne also enjoyed looking up recipes for Jean or himself to try, always willing to give something new a chance. Wayne was a patient and kind man who worked hard and was generous with his time. He was someone who could be counted on when a helping hand was needed. He could also be stubborn at times, especially when he had his mind made up, but that determination was simply part of who Wayne was.

Wayne was a member of the St. Peter Drum and Bugle Corps, Zion Lutheran Church of Hanska, the Shriners Club, and the Plainsmen of the Northern Star.

Wayne will be remembered for his steady nature, his kindness, and the many good times shared with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Blessed be his memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Brown County Humane Society, the Oak Hills Living Center of New Ulm, or the donor’s choice.
