Sidney "Sid" Schmidt, 40, of Gibbon died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon with Pastor Kelly Knox officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Norwegian Cemetery in rural Gibbon. Visitation will be 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Augustana Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Sid is survived by his wife, Dulci and sons, Mason and McKray, all of Gibbon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marcella and Larry Schmidgall of Liberal, Missouri, Leona and Scott Fehr of West Bend, Iowa, Lila and Anthony Fehr of Fairbury, Illinois; brothers and sisters-in-law, Verl and Jamie Schimdt of Winthrop, Wesley Schmidt and Rhonda Schmidt, both of Winthrop; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Greg and Beverly Woods of Gibbon; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tara and Alan Ernst of Gibbon; grandma, Eunice Woods of Gibbon; nieces and nephews, and other special relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Ella Mae Schmidt; nephew, Joshua Fehr; and grandpa, Harold Woods.

Sidney Ray Schmidt, son of Eugene and Ella Mae (Knobloch) Schmidt, was born on July 13, 1970 in Gaylord. He attended school in Gaylord, graduating in the class of 1988, and was raised in the Apostolic Christian Church. On February 27, 1993, Sidney and Dulci Woods were united in marriage at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon. Sidney held many jobs over the years, some of which included being an electrician and truck driver. Currently he was working for his best friend Jason at Haas Farms helping with various farming tasks. Sid was a very giving person who would drop anything to help a friend. He loved being a part of his sons' wrestling practices and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Sid was a member of the Sportsman Club in Gibbon and a member of the Gibbon Fire and Rescue for thirteen years. He was currently attending Augustana Lutheran Church and helped with the new building addition on the church.
