Dateline: Courtland
Alice Berndt, 79, of Courtland died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Mayo Health Systems Hospital in Mankato as result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland with Pastor Wayne Bernau officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 PM Friday and 7:30 - 8:30 AM Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday.
Alice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Charles Klossner of North Mankato; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Kathy Berndt of Courtland, Dave and Lisa Berndt of North Mankato, Keith and Heather Berndt of Shakopee; grandchildren, Nathan and Ashley Klossner, Daniel Berndt, Brandon Klossner, Sarah Berndt, Dalton Berndt, Ryan Berndt, Paige Berndt; great granddaughter, Sophia Klossner; a brother and sister-in-law, Roland and LaVon Bode of Walker; and by a sister-in-law, Bonnie Berndt of Glenville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon Berndt on November 20, 2004; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Elmer and Ida Eckhardt, Arnold and Viola Berndt, Ervin and Lorene Berndt and George Berndt.
Alice Emma Bode was born June 10, 1932 in New Ulm to Emil and Rebecca (Pehling) Bode. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Courtland and was a graduate of Nicollet High School. Alice was united in marriage to Gordon Berndt on October 4, 1958 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland. After marriage they farmed in Emerald Township, Blue Earth County until 1962 when they moved to Courtland Township, Nicollet County. They farmed there until retiring in 1988 but continued to live on the farm. Alice enjoyed the Minnesota Twins, gardening, camping, embroidering, quilting, caring for her grandchildren and spending time with friends.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland and the Dorcus Society.
