Herbert Patrick Schloesser, age 74, of New Ulm, MN died Saturday, July 7th, 2012.
He suffered fatal injuries while doing what he loved; working on a home improvement project in Cambria MN.
Herb was born March 17, 1938, to John and Mary (Lang) Schloesser of Le Center, MN. He married Joan (Osborne) in 1959 and had six children. They farmed in Le Center from the late 50's through mid-80's. Joan and Herb divorced in 1988. He graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato, in finance. He also trucked over the road, hauling cargo through the U.S. and Canada in the early 90's. For the past 25 years he lived in New Ulm. He married and later divorced Marcia Jarrett. Herb was currently employed at AMPI in the agricultural processing industry.
Herb was a very inventive, resourceful, and creative individual. He was a busy man, enjoyed work, dancing, camping, and helping people. He served his country honorably in the Army Reserves, was an Honorary Officer (3rd Degree) of the Knights of Columbus, formerly an active member of the National Farmer's Organization, and was recognized as a local entrepreneur by the AMPI Cooperative.
Herb is survived by his children: Michelle Kaisersatt (Dale), Bradley Schloesser (LuAnn), Shawn Schloesser (Deann), Bridget Schloesser and Tricia Roberts. Grandchildren: Laura Alexander (Nick), Darren Kaisersatt, Jessica Yost (Charlie), Carissa Odland (Isaac), Riley and Liam Schloesser, Ashley, Josh and Sara Roberts. Great Grandchildren: Lydia, Elijah and Dominic Yost. Past wife and mother of his children, Joan Osborne, and Marcia Jarrett, past wife of two years, and special friend, Rita.
Herb was one of 9 children. His surviving siblings are: Sylvester Schloesser (Marilyn) of Columbus, OH, Bernadette Engel of Lebanon, TN, Bernadine Singer (Ray) of Sun City West, AZ, Alvin Schloesser (Marge) of Watertown, WI, Richard Schloesser (Colleen) of Le Center, Helen Olson (Vern) of Saint Peter, sister-in-law Kathy Schloesser of Le Center, and Evelyn Tambornino (Steve) of Le Center.
He is preceded in death by: his parents John and Mary (Lang) Schloesser, daughter Shannon Schloesser, and brother Clarence "Butch" Schloesser.
He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his life with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4 pm on July 12, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in New Ulm, MN with Father Germain Rademacher celebrating the Mass. The family invites you to say your goodbyes to Herb, share memories and stories amongst family and friends during the visitation scheduled from 1-4 pm at the church on Thursday. Family Burial will be held at a later time at the Calvary Cemetery in Le Center, MN.
