Obituary

Adeline Zangel, 85, of New Ulm died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas Grams celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Friday and 7:30 – 10 AM Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Adeline is survived by her son, Paul Zangel of New Ulm; a sister, Doris Schroepfer of New Ulm; a brother and sister-in-law, Leander and Kathy Filzen of New Ulm; and by a sister-in-law, Delores Filzen of Gaylord.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald "Danny" Zangel; son, Steve Zangel; brothers, Erwin and Elmer Filzen; and by a brother-in-law, Melvin Schroepfer.

Adeline Cecelia Filzen was born January 23, 1927 in New Ulm to Raymond and Cecelia (Kral) Filzen. She attended Holy Trinity Grade School and was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm. Adeline was united in marriage to Donald Zangel on July 20, 1946 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage the resided in New Ulm where she was employed at Ida's Café and the B F Goodrich until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking and baking.

Adline was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the St. Anne's Court of the National Catholic Society of Foresters.

The family prefers memorials to the Steve Zangel Scholarship Fund at NUACS.
