Obituary

Jack Long, I, 66, of New Ulm died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at his home in New Ulm. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH Chapel in New Ulm with Pastor Brad Kuebler officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Jack Lee Long was born October 24, 1947 in Topeka, Kansas to Leonard "Bud" and Virginia (Zinn) Long. On February 20, 1976, he was united in marriage to Sharon Thomas in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Sharon preceded him in death in May of 2010. He then was united in the eyes of God with his special lady friend, Diana Bidwell on April 19, 2014. Jack was a truck driver for over 40 years and worked as an engineer for Cloverleaf Cold Storage. After retiring from truck driving, he ran the grain cart for Perry Meyer and Jason Enter hauling corn and silage for three years. Jack enjoyed spending many hours on the computer, shooting guns, and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by children; Rhiannon (John) Schroeder, Laura (Jon) Nutt, Jack Lee Long II, and Joseph (Erin) Maidl; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Thea, and Joshua Nutt, Joey and Ryann Maidl, Anika and Hunter Schroeder, Brennon, Brandon, Hallie, and Leah Long; great-grandchild, Sidney Cunning; special friend, Diana Bidwell; three sisters; and three brothers.

He was preceded in death by parents; and first wife, Sharon Long.
