Dorothy Herbeck, 93, of Bayfield, Wisconsin and formerly of New Ulm died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 4 – 7 Friday and 7:30 – 10 AM Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm. The Christian Mother's Society will pray the rosary at 4 PM Friday at the Cathedral.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Franta of Bayfield, Wisconsin, Barbara (Richard) Manderfeld of St. Cloud, Dena (Mark) Braun of Madison Lake, Patrice (Mike) Scheibel of Searles; sons, Tom (Lu) Herbeck of Lakeville, Dan (Nancy) Herbeck of St. Paul, Peter (Debbie) Herbeck of Ann Arbor, Michigan; 30 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred (Norbert) Seifert of Milwaukee, Oregon; brother, Joseph Eichten of Denver, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Joseph Herbeck; grandson, Anthony Joseph Manderfeld; sisters, Alice Kunz and Phyllis Herzog; brothers, Thomas and Robert Eichten.

Dorothy Amalia Eichten was born on June 28, 1920 in New Ulm to Carl and Amalia (Steiman) Eichten. She attended Holy Trinity Grade School and graduated from Holy Trinity High School with the class of 1938. On March 6, 1942, Dorothy was united in marriage to Joseph Herbeck at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. Dorothy was employed at Sompsen, Dempsey, Johnson, & Sompsen Attorneys and for the Register of Deeds office at the Brown County Court House. She enjoyed homemaking, sewing, reading, gardening, bowling, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Christian Mother's Society, American Legion Post #132 Auxiliary, and the Hospital Auxiliary.
