Irene Mathilda Ottilia Behrmann was born July 28, 1916 in Round Grove Township-McLeod County to Ernest and Lydia (Bauermeister) Behrmann. She attended country school in Round Township until the eighth grade. Irene married Herbert Cordes on February 28, 1937 at Fernando Lutheran Church near Stewart; the same church she was baptized and confirmed in. After marriage, Irene moved to New Ulm where she worked as a loving home-maker and mother. Irene later married Ferdinand Domeier on July 21, 1973 in New Ulm. From youth on, Irene had a love of the outdoors. Growing up on a farm with only sisters, Irene gladly took the roll of her father's farm hand assisting with chores. After moving to town, Irene was still able to display her love of the outdoors through her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Irene also enjoyed playing card games with family and friends, especially Golf or Farkle. Her willingness to give will be the memory her children hold most fondly of her. She was always there when you needed her, and always willing to give her time; especially when it came to her grandchildren. Irene was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, and a member of the Seifert-Bianchi Post 132 American Legion Auxiliary in New Ulm.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
