Lorene Walden, 80, of New Ulm died Friday, March 6, 2015 at Ridgeway on 23rd in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday, March 11, at First United Methodist Church in New Ulm with Pastor Jo Anne Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 – 8 PM Tuesday and 7:30 – 8:30 AM Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Wednesday.

Lorene is survived by her husband, Vern Walden of New Ulm; a daughter, Jeanine (Jim) Randall of Esko; sons, Dale Walden of New Ulm, Greg (Cindy) Walden of New Ulm, Joel (Kelly) Walden of New Ulm, Dan (Debbie) Walden of Mankato, Paul Walden of New Ulm, Scott Walden of Las Vegas, Nevada; 15 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia (John) Breu of Searles, Gladys (Ed) Udelhofen of Mason City, Iowa, Eileen Weber of St. Paul; and by a brother, Jim (Jean) Wallner of New Ulm.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lois Bethke Wagner; and by a brother, Dennis Wallner.

Lorene Rose Wallner was born November 14, 1934 in New Ulm to Lawrence and Anne (Dussel) Wallner. She was a 1952 graduate of New Ulm High School. Lorene was united in marriage to Vern Walden on November 14, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm where she was the bookkeeper for her husband's business, Vern Walden Construction. She was also employed at Brown County Services for 15 years until her retirement in 1996. Lorene volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the CAST group that made quilts to donate to charities.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and the Ladies Circle.
