Obituary

Kenneth Theodore Clyne, 80, of New Ulm died from Leukemia, Friday, April 10, 2015 at his home in New Ulm, surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas Grams Celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and will continue on Thursday from 7:30 until 10:00 a.m. at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm.

Kenneth Theodore Clyne was born July 7, 1934 at home in New Ulm. He was one of seven children born to Leona (Rubey) and Repass Clyne. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elva, and three children: daughter, Cindy ( Jerry) Hauser, son David Clyne and wife Michelle, all of New Ulm. Also son Paul Clyne and wife, Annie of St. Cloud. Eleven grandchildren; Jessica (Adam) Hester, Kelsie Hauser (Curt Schultz), Kyle (Brei) Hauser, Collin, Kendra , Caleb, Kennady and Karly Clyne, Terryn Irrthum, Hailey Meyer, Tom Meyer, great grandchildren, Daxxon and Hadley Grace Hauser, Makaylin and Ryker Hester, Cameron Hauser Schultz, Kirra Schultz and Henry Irrthum; two brothers, Jim (Barbara) Clyne of New Ulm and Dennis (Marge) Clyne of Mankato; sister-in-law, Marlene Clyne of Lincoln, Nebraska; and aunt, Betty (Pete) Clyne of New Ulm; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Donald Clyne, Doris ( Louis, Sr.) Lindmeyer, Dorothy "Sis" Clyne, and Barbara Luckhardt of New Ulm and by mother-in-law and father-in-law, Valma and Arthur Tharp.

Ken attended New Ulm Public Schools and graduated in 1953. He joined the US Navy and served in the Pacific from 1953 through 1957 as a radio man on the destroyer, the USS Ozbourn. He attended MSU in Mankato for two years then moved to Los Angeles, California and began work with Western Union where he met his wife, Elva. Ken was united in marriage to Elva Jane Tharp on September 16, 1961 at St. Mary's Catholic church in Wilton, Iowa. They made their home in Westminister, California until moving to New Ulm in the fall of 1976. Ken was employed with the New Ulm Telephone Company until retirement in 1995. Ken was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm and a member of the Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post #132 in New Ulm. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered.
