New Ulm
Sandra "Sandy" Witt, 66, of New Ulm died Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be 4 – 6 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 – 8 a.m. on Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.
Sandy is survived by several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sandy was born on August 6, 1949 in New Ulm to Harold and Austa (Estabrooks) Witt. She attended school at St. Paul's Lutheran School in New Ulm and was a 1967 graduate of Martin Luther Academy. After graduation Sandy work as a nursing assistant at the St. Alexander Nursing Home in New Ulm up until it closed. She then went to Highland Manor Nursing Home in New Ulm and worked there for a short period of time. Sandy then attended Mankato Technical College in Mankato. After her schooling she went to work at the New Ulm Medical Clinic. There Sandy worked in Central Supply delivering medical supplies to various departments within the hospital. Because of failing health Sandy went into early retirement.
She loved to play cards, especially sheep head, and to watch television mainly watching cooking shows and the Olympics. In her younger years Sandy loved to swim and to bowl. She had been a member of several bowling leagues in New Ulm. Sandra was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and when able Sandy attended the 6 a.m. Bible study at church. She was a member of the ladies choir at church and also on the Altar Guild Committee. The family prefers memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to St. Paul's Lutheran School. www.mvfh.org
