Letha Kobs, 78, of Mankato and formerly of New Ulm died Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Autumn Grace Assisted Living in Mankato.
Funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday, September 3, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in New Ulm with Pastor Jo Anne Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service at church on Thursday.
Letha is survived by her sons, Rodney (Lisa) Kobs of North Mankato, Randy (Beverly) Kobs of Roscoe, Illinois, Ricky (Katy) Kobs of Arvada Colorado; grandsons, Alex, Josh, Tyler, Andrew, Nicholas and Eli; sisters, Melva "Mel" Griffin of College Station, Texas, Annette (Joe) Warren of Hawkins, Texas; and by her brothers, Virgil LaGrone of Houston, Texas, Walter LaGrone of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Curtis LaGrone of Dallas, Texas.
Letha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Kobs; and by her brother Wetzel LaGrone.
Letha Faye LaGrone was born August 31, 1936 in Deadwood, Texas to Thomas Chesley and Leah Lurlene (Aaron) LaGrone. She was a graduate of Carthage High School, Steven F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas and received her Masters' Degree from the University of Indiana in Bloomington, Indiana. Letha was united in marriage to Larry Kobs on February 1, 1963 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. They moved to New Ulm in 1964 where she was employed as a physical education teacher at New Ulm Catholic Schools and then for New Ulm School District 88 until her retirement in 1995. After retiring Letha moved to Marshall, Texas and then back to New Ulm in 2010. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, stain glass, sewing and reading. She also loved to tell stories and spend time at the lake with her children and grandchildren.
Letha was a member of First United Methodist Church and several quilting clubs.
