Allen Walter Altmann, age 78 of New Ulm passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at his home in New Ulm, with his family by his side.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 am on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity with Father Gerald Meidl officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH chapel in New Ulm, and will continue on Tuesday from 9-10:30 am at the funeral home.

Allen is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annette Altmann of New Ulm; his daughters, Lauri (Butch) Stark of New Ulm and Kathy (Roger) Kisch of Hayward, WI; his son, Rick (Beth) Altmann of New Ulm; his grandchildren, Connor (Claire) Stark, Alex (Stephanie Haas) Stark, Hannah Altmann and Gracie Altmann; his sister, Phyllis (Howard) Aschenbrenner; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Florence Altmann; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Adeline Beranek; his stepmother-in-law, Johanna Beranek; and other relatives.
Allen Walter Altmann was born December 26, 1942 in New Ulm to Charles and Florence (Gleisner) Altmann. He attended and graduated from High School in New Ulm. After high school, from 1960-1963 Allen served in the Army Reserve. Allen was united in marriage to Annette Beranek on May 18, 1965 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Church in New Ulm. This union blessed the couple with three children. Allen found enjoyment in many things, such as bowling, trains, decorating for Christmas, traveling, entertaining and polka dancing. His life as a farmer was his passion. He cared for his cows and pigs and had a special love for the land. His greatest appreciation in life was his family. Spending time with his children and grandchildren brought him such joy. Allen was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and Cathedral of the Holy Trinity church. He will be forever missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Blessed be his memory.
