John Duane Maas, age 58, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Rochester.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. Pastor Dan Witte will officiate, burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Nicollet.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. The visitation will continue from 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

John is survived by his sisters, Judy (Ernst) Hering of Waterville, Jean (Darwin) Hardel of Nicollet, June (Wayne) Davis of Kasota, Joan (Thomas) Martens of Nicollet; 10 nieces and nephews; 20 great nieces and nephews; and 3 great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
John Duane Maas was born August 2, 1960 to Wilford and Ardella (Luepke) Maas in St. Peter. He was baptized on August 5 th at the hospital and confirmed on March 19, 1978 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. John graduated from high school in St. Peter in 1981 and began working at MRCI, where he worked for 37 years. In his free time, John loved bowling in the Special Olympic League. He also enjoyed playing pool, taking trips to Georgia and Disney World, watching the Twins, Vikings, and even the Packers, and always looked forward to his birthday. John was a compassionate and caring man, often in the form of hugs and a big smile whenever meeting or saying goodbye. Even as his health began to fade, his love and care for his family was always there. His love for his family was beyond measure. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, blessed be his memory.
