Marie is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Bruce) Strandskov of Alexandria; her sons, Mark (Barb) Ulmen of Lakeville, Charles (Mary) Ulmen of Madelia, Jeffrey (Tammy) Ulmen of Madelia, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and an AFS exchange student, Markus Holas of Austria.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna Weier; her husband, Raymond; her grandson, Jordan; sisters, Florence Bednar, Donna Pfeiffer; and her brothers, Albert and Leo Weier.

Marie Louise Weier was born September 30, 1937, in Lafayette Township to Henry and Anna (Klingler) Weier.  She was a 1956 graduate from Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm and later gained her cosmetology training in Minneapolis.  On August 25, 1962, Marie was united in marriage to Raymond Ulmen at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.  This union blessed the couple with a daughter and three sons whom together they raised in Madelia where Marie worked alongside Raymond on the farm.  The couple retired from farming in 1984 and moved to Apple Valley where she then worked at the PDQ Store.  The couple later moved back to Madelia in 1995, and then to New Ulm in 1998 where she lived the rest of her life.  In her retirement, Marie worked as the manager of the New Ulm Apartments.  Besides all of her work Marie loved to volunteer her time to her community.  She volunteered at the MRCI Bargain Store, served those in need with Meals on Wheels, as well as volunteered her time with the Chamber of Commerce.  Marie also served the community of Madelia as a past president of the AFS Organization.  To socialize, Marie loved attending polka dances with Raymond or visiting with friends over a game of cards in card club.  Marie was a dedicated member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity as well as the Turner Ladies Society in New Ulm.  What brought Marie the greatest joy in life was always her family.  She dearly loved every minute she got to spend with them and loved getting to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.  Blessed be her memory.
