Virginia L.
Mueller
August 24, 1956 – September 6, 2021
Virginia "Ginny" Lee (Polk) Mueller passed away on September 6th, 2021 in New Ulm, Minnesota at the age of 65 years and 13 days.
Ginny's story began in Great Lakes, Illinois, on August 24th, 1956, born to her parents Donald Polk and Donna (Parker) Polk. Ginny's early life took her to Minneapolis and then New Ulm, where she graduated from Cathedral High School in May 1974.
After graduation she attended the Mankato Area Technical Institute, where she graduated from the General Secretarial Course. More importantly, Ginny met the love of her life, Rodney "Rod" Mueller. They were married in December 1975 and spent their early days of marriage living in Redwood Falls and Luverne.
While living in Luverne, Ginny worked for the City of Luverne as an accounts payable specialist, as well as a bookkeeper at the Herman Motor Company. She somehow found time to give birth to her three children, Joshua, Jeremy, and Jessica. She also opened and ran her own consignment business, the Happy Heart Shoppe.
The family moved to Brainerd in 1986 and then finally to New Ulm in 1990. Ginny held a variety of roles on her career path, including caretaker for Linderhof Park Apartments, as well as accounts payable specialist and director of office operations at MBW Company, where she worked for 26 years. Ginny also took on one of her favorite roles with the greatest of pride: grandmother, to Jeremy's (Randi) daughter Sydney and Jessica's (Andy) children Alistair and Ada.
Ginny was known for so many things, including her warm hugs, her optimism, and her overflowing love for her children and grandchildren. Her friends, and those around New Ulm, may attest to her notable ability to make things organized while also making things beautiful. Throughout her career, she brought order where it was needed and supervised complicated operations, accounting books, and systems. She also brought order and structure to her family life as well as for more people than you can count. But her organizing structure was paired with a love for beauty and craftsmanship as well. Her hobbies included card making, ceramics, counted cross stitch, and creating scrapbooks. She was always quick to offer her help in decorating a party, designing something special for her friends and family, or simply sharing a laugh.
Ginny is preceded in death by only 58 days by her beloved husband of 45 years, Rodney.
She is survived by her father, Donald Polk (Jeanne); her three children, Josh (Nikki), Jeremy (Randi), and Jessica (Andrew); her three beautiful grandchildren, Sydney, Alistair, and Ada; her brothers Donald Jr. (Renee) and Lester; her sisters Helen (Mark) and Patricia (Eric); as well as in-laws Rita (Ron), Mike (Ellen), Jackie (Tom), Dan, Corey (Julie), Chuck (Steph). She was also preceded in death by her mother, Donna; "adopted son" Brandon, parental in-laws Nita, Eugene, A.V., and Lois.
Celebration of Life Services will be at 11am on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021, at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home (South) and then a small ceremony at the New Ulm Cemetery. Following that there will be a Celebration of Life Party at New Ulm's Turner Hall from 1-4pm.
